The health unit department was started at the opening of the campus as one roomed department where we currently have library staffs office, it was latter shifted east of the administration a building which currently serves as the estate dept after a week .During this time the dept had one staff a clinical officer who worked during the day and on call at night. All diseases were treated clinically because we did not have a medical laboratory then and for those diagnosis which needed laboratory investigation were sent to the district hospital. It was till September that we received a lab technologist but due to lack of laboratory equipments the lab became operational in the following month. On October 2009 the department received two more staffs (a clinical officer and a nurse) At this point the department became operational 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. The number of patient attended kept on increasing with each student intake to the university and this necessitated increase of working space thus on October 2011 the department was shifted to the northern end of the campus compound where it is to date. It has the following sub departments; records, pharmacy, outpatient consultation room, laboratory, drug store, treatment room, one male and one female observation rooms ,wash room, and staffs office.
